Before we know it,it will be Holloween 2007. It is amazing how fast that day seems to sneak up on us. And no matter how hard we try we are never quite prepared. Whether it is getting a costume for the kids or trying to put one together for ourselves, we never seem to have enough time.
According to PRNewswire-USNewswire, the first official citywide celebration of Holloween occurred in Anoka, Minn., in 1921. Through the years the celebration has changed for young and old. Many customs and rituals have changed and everyone is more lighthearted about the times. Youngsters are seen wearing scary mask for parties or when out "Trick or Treating."
The number of tricksters was estimated to be about 36 million for 2006. And that was down about 45,000 from 2005. This was for children age 5-13. Kids younger and older than that group were not included. Needless to say there are a lot of youngsters out there looking for treats. And they will be ready for Holloween 2007, are you?
Sales of costumes and candy take a significant jump during this time. I can almost see all the merchants and dentist smiling as they go to bed at night. A glorious time this Holloween 2007. Let us prepare one and all as the bewitching hour approaches. It is that season and we must all prepare. And as a last thought as we get ready for Holloween 2007, is all that candy that the stores are putting out now really new or just left over from last year? Just a thought.
